Tokusatsu (特撮) refers to Japanese live-action programs and films that make extensive use of special effects. Here in the West, the best known are kaijyuu films like Godzilla. But a few years back, a friend got me into the superhero variety, which nowadays are aimed at kids. (For instance, one such series was adapted in several countries as Power Rangers.) Yes, I'm addicted to Japanese kids' shows featuring grown-ass people running around in spandex suits.
